You Are a Blessing to Everyone You Meet
"You are a miracle."
It's a beautiful thing to hear.
Yet how many of us truly believe it?
For years, I certainly didn't.
I would go about my day feeling as though I didn't really matter.
I felt invisible.
I believed it wouldn't make much difference whether I was here or not.
Perhaps you've felt that way too at some point in your life.
It's a heavy way to live.
Then something changed.
Over the last couple of years, while writing my final two books, a beautiful understanding came through that completely transformed the way I see myself—and the way I see every person I meet.
It was this:
You are a blessing to everyone you come into contact with.
Not just when you're kind.
Not just when you're patient.
Not just when you're at your best.
Always.
Take a moment and let that settle in.
You are a blessing.
How does it feel to read those words?
Do you instantly believe them?
Or does a little voice inside whisper,
"Not me."
It's Easy to Feel Like a Blessing When You're Kind
Most of us can recognise the moments when we've made a positive difference.
Maybe you've encouraged a friend who was struggling.
Perhaps you've listened without judgment when someone needed to be heard.
Maybe you've smiled at a stranger, helped a neighbour, or simply been there for someone when they needed you most.
Those moments feel beautiful.
Those moments remind us that we have something worthwhile to offer the world.
It's easy to believe we're a blessing when we're expressing love through kindness.
But what happens when we're not?
What about the days when we're impatient?
When we say something we wish we could take back?
When we lose our temper?
When we unintentionally hurt someone?
Most of us immediately begin judging ourselves.
"I shouldn't have done that."
"I'm a terrible person."
"I always get it wrong."
But what if we've been looking at those moments through the wrong lens?
What If Every Interaction Has a Purpose?
Imagine you're walking down the street and a complete stranger says something hurtful to you.
Perhaps they criticise you.
Perhaps they make a rude comment.
Perhaps they speak in a way that leaves you feeling upset.
What usually happens next?
You might become angry.
You might cry.
You might replay the conversation over and over in your mind.
But here's a question worth asking:
Why did those words upset you?
The words themselves aren't creating your pain.
They're revealing something that's already there.
Perhaps they touched an old belief.
A belief that says...
"I'm not good enough."
"I'm not worthy."
"I don't matter."
"I'm not lovable."
Without even realising it, that stranger has become a mirror.
They've shown you something that's ready to heal.
You're Also a Mirror for Others
Now let's look at the same situation from the other side.
What happens when you're the one who upsets someone?
Maybe you speak without thinking.
Maybe you're frustrated.
Maybe you unintentionally hurt someone's feelings.
Your first instinct is probably to feel guilty.
To think,
"I shouldn't have said that."
But what if something deeper is happening?
What if your words have simply revealed a belief that already existed within them?
Just as someone else's words can become an opportunity for your healing...
your words can become an opportunity for theirs.
That doesn't mean we should intentionally hurt people.
Kindness will always matter.
Compassion will always matter.
But it does remind us that every experience—even the uncomfortable ones—
can become an invitation to greater self-awareness.
Sometimes Growth Arrives Disguised as Pain
When we look back over our lives, many of our greatest lessons didn't arrive wrapped in comfort.
They arrived through challenge.
Through heartbreak.
Through disappointment.
Through moments we'd never choose to repeat.
Yet somehow...
those very experiences shaped who we became.
I've heard countless stories from people who say their greatest awakening came during the hardest season of their life.
The pain became impossible to ignore.
It asked deeper questions.
It invited them to stop running.
It gently guided them back to themselves.
Perhaps pain isn't the enemy we've always believed it to be.
Perhaps it's simply another teacher.
You Matter More Than You Know
Whether you're making someone laugh...
Holding space for a friend...
Offering encouragement...
Or unknowingly challenging someone to look within...
Your presence has meaning.
Every person you meet is on their own unique journey.
Sometimes you'll remind them of the love they already know.
Other times, you'll help them discover the love they've forgotten.
Either way...
You are part of their story.
And they are part of yours.
You Are a Blessing
The world often tells us our value comes from what we achieve.
How much we earn.
How successful we become.
How many people admire us.
But perhaps our greatest gift has nothing to do with any of those things.
Perhaps our greatest gift is simply showing up.
Being willing to experience this human life.
Sharing moments with one another.
Helping each other grow—sometimes through love, sometimes through challenge,
but always through opportunity.
So today, I'd like to leave you with one simple invitation.
The next time you find yourself wondering whether you matter...
Whether you're making a difference...
Whether your life has purpose...
Pause for a moment.
Take a deep breath.
And remember these words:
You are a blessing to everyone you come into contact with.
You may never fully understand how your presence has touched another person's life.
But it has.
More than you know.
A Gentle Reflection
Think about someone who changed your life.
It may have been through kindness.
It may have been through challenge.
Either way, they helped shape who you are today.
Now consider this:
Whose life might you be quietly helping to transform without even realising it?
