When you slow down enough to truly look at someone, something remarkable happens.

For a brief moment...

You stop seeing a role.

A job title.

An appearance.

A personality.

You simply see another human being.

Even as a child, I found myself fascinated by people's eyes.

I didn't understand why.

Now I do.

Eyes reveal what words often hide.

Someone may be smiling...

Yet you can still see sadness.

Someone may tell you they're fine...

Yet their eyes quietly ask to be understood.

Our eyes speak a language that words cannot.

Over the past few years, I've found myself looking into the eyes of my dogs differently.

Sometimes I become overwhelmed.

Not because they've done anything extraordinary.

But because I can see the love pouring out of them.

Pure.

Unconditional.

Completely present.

They aren't wondering who I should become.

They aren't judging who I've been.

They're simply loving me exactly as I am.

It reminds me that perhaps this is how we're all meant to see one another.

The next time someone serves you a coffee...

Look into their eyes.

Smile.

Thank them.

When someone you love is speaking...

Put your phone down.

Be fully there.

Offer them your attention.

Not because they expect it.

Because every soul longs to feel seen.

Sometimes the smallest moments create the deepest healing.

Healing isn't always found in grand gestures.

Sometimes...

It's found in eye contact.

A genuine smile.

A few moments of complete presence.

When we begin truly seeing others...

Something extraordinary happens.

We begin seeing ourselves differently too.

Perhaps that's where healing has been waiting all along.
